Patricia (LaPlante) Hindman, known affectionately by friends and family as Pat, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, at the age of 87 in her hometown of Thunder Bay, ON. Born on June 18, 1937, in the same city, Pat's life was a testament to her loving, kind, and selfless nature.
Her dedication to family was unwavering, and she was blessed with a loving circle that included her daughter, Therese Lafleche; her grandchildren, Chelsea Brideau and Jonathan Lafleche; her ex-husband, Gerard Lafleche; and her late husband, Bill Hindman. Pat also leaves behind her sister, Laura Shannon; her brother, Jack LaPlante, brother-in-law André and Darquise Lafleche; as well as many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.
She found joy in caring for others, always striving to make a positive difference in the daily lives of those she served.
Pat's interests were as broad and colourful as her personality. She was an avid singer and could often be found sharing her voice in the choir or wherever an opportunity to sing arose. Her love for music was just one aspect of her vibrant social life. Pat was a true social butterfly, delighting in entertaining friends and neighbours with her infectious laughter and welcoming spirit.
A sense of adventure coursed through Pat's veins. She lived life fully, embracing the changes and opportunities that came her way. Her adventurous spirit took her to live in several Canadian cities, the sunny shores of Florida, and the romantic landscapes of France. Pat was also an intrepid traveller, exploring most of Europe with her daughter, enriching her life with the cultures and experiences she encountered. Nevertheless, her heart always remained anchored to her family, which was her truest love and greatest joy.
Pat's legacy is one of love and selflessness. Her life was a living example of kindness, always putting others before herself and enriching the lives of everyone she touched. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared by those who knew her best.
As we bid farewell to Patricia Hindman, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of compassion, friendship, and love. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Pat's journey through life was a beautiful melody, a song of giving and caring, which will resonate in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
A service will be held at Corpus Christi parish on Friday, October 11th at 1:00 pm.
