Loved, honored, and deeply needed, our world is forever diminished by the loss of our beloved mother and sister, Patricia Kathleen O'Leary, who passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre.
Born in Thunder Bay on June 7, 1952, to Lloyd O'Leary and Yoshiko Tanabe, Patricia lived a life filled with love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her greatest source of pride were her sons, whom she cherished and protected under wings of wisdom and love. In turn they stood by her side in times of need, holding her hand and embracing her with the same love she had always given them.
Patricia dedicated over 40 years of service to Revenue Canada, where she was known for her expertise and generosity in helping family and friends. She is survived by her loving sons Nathan, Dallas, and Chase; her brother William; her sisters Carlie (David) and Constance; and her nieces Candra, Donna & Melanie and nephews Patrick and Stephen.
Entrusted to Sargent & Sons Funeral Chapel; cremation has taken place, and family and friends will gather on her 73rd birthday; Saturday, June 7, 2025, to honor her memory. Her ashes will be interred alongside her beloved parents at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
Patricia’s joy for life shone through in her contagious laughter and radiant smile. She glowed. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and boundless love that will be forever treasured by those who knew her.
A poem written by Patricia titled Our Rainbow
Each of us form a rainbow
Though we're often not aware
It's more than just the way we look
Or the shading of our hair
It lies beneath our features
Somewhere deep in things we know
It surrounds us on the outside
It precedes us where we go
If you group us all together
We're still separate in our ways
But the brilliance of our hopes and dreams
Could light the darkest days...
Each of us has a language
More than one way do we pray
It's not foreign to seek the sunshine
Or find differences along the way
It keeps us part of history
Somehow all of us must glow
To follow drops of prejudice
A rain that becomes our foe
If you group us all together
Our skin colours are not the same
But the magnificence of all this beauty
Becomes gold...a pot to gain
