It is with great sorrow that the family of Paul Kassa announce his peaceful passing on February 3, 2023 at the age of 87, with family by his side.

Paul was born on February 16, 1935, to parents Joseph and Sophia Kassa. Paul married the love of his life, Virginia Sedor, on June 23, 1958 in Fort William and their journey began. Their romance lasted 64 years and they were blessed with three wonderful children, Karen, Theresa and Paul.

Paul was a devoted husband, exceptional father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many throughout his life and will be greatly missed by all. Paul worked at the Department of Highways of Ontario where he worked alongside his father Joseph. Following that, he worked at Thunder Bay Transit, and later retired from the City of Thunder Bay in Sewer and Water. Throughout his career, he made many lifelong friendships and always had great memories to share of his work.

Paul was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed tinkering in the garage. He could always be found fixing or creating something even if he had to create the parts himself. He was the handyman we all had on speed dial. Carpentry and woodworking were his true passions. An expert self-taught woodworker, Paul, built 2 of his previous homes from the ground up. He was meticulous, and had an incredibly fine eye for detail. Paul had an amazing memory, and was always quick with a joke or funny comment which brought so much laughter and smiles.

Paul will be forever missed by his family: children, Karen McDonald, Theresa (Roland) Jalbert, and Paul (Mary) Kassa; along with grandchildren, Robert McDonald, Kevin Jalbert, Lisa (Greg) Opas, and Krista (Jeff) Starcok.

Paul is predeceased by his wife Virginia Kassa; his parents, Joseph and Sophia Kassa; sister Mary Dika, and son-in-law Robert McDonald.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with Prayers beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Services for the late Paul Kassa will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with family and friends gathering at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Road, Thunder Bay with Funeral Mass to be celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. A luncheon will be held at Harbourview Funeral Centre following the interment at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to St Anthony's Catholic Church http://stanthonysparish.ca/
