The family of Paul Jansen is heartbroken to announce his unexpected death on Sunday July 28th, 2024, at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center.
Paulus was born in Markelo, The Netherlands on November 6, 1954, to Peter and Martha (Ellis).
Paul’s family immigrated to Canada when Paul was 6 years old, landing in Montreal and settling in Toronto. When Paul was 19 years old, he moved to Thunder Bay and was introduced to Dale. They married and enjoyed the next 47 years together. Paul will be remembered for his love of life and family. Paul was always the light in every room, the humour in everyone’s day, and a pillar of strength offering encouragement and support to more people than he ever realized.
Paul worked for many years in the transportation industry, most recently driving tow truck. Paul also held roles as a driving instructor, served as a Pastor in Alberta and as an Assistant Director at Dorion Bible Camp. In his spare time, he taught guitar to neighbours and friends.
Paul’s favorite place was in the bush, cutting firewood. The only thing that could make it better was the family being right there with him, enjoying the hard work. The special memories made with Paul will live in our hearts forever.
Paul will be deeply missed by his wife Dale, son Matthew (Kayleah), daughter Sarah (Neil DeVetten), grandchildren Ben, Jon, Mya, Marcus and Tali, brothers John, Peter (Paul’s twin), and sisters Elizabeth and Maria.
Paul was predeceased by his parents.
A celebration of Life to remember and honour Paul will be held on Tuesday August 6th, 2024, at 2pm at the Dorion Public School, 175 Dorion Loop Road.
Should friends so desire, donations to Bikers Against Child Abuse or Teen Challenge may be made in memory of Paul.
