Mr. Petar Ostojic, age 75 years of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with family praying at his side on Friday, July 16, 2010.

Born in Tkon, Croatia on May 27, 1935, Petar immigrated to Canada with his family in 1974. His profession as a bricklayer afforded him much employment in construction in Thunder Bay and surrounding area as well as in Calgary, Alberta. Petar enjoyed a good game of chess, reading, walking, attending daily Mass and family get togethers. He was a deeply religious man of strong faith and devotion to Medjugorje, as well as being a lifelong donor to the Missionaries of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

Petar will be lovingly remembered by Katarina Ostojic; their children Loredana (Scott) Miller of Thunder Bay, Peter Ostojic (Jr.), Anton (Angie) Ostojic of Calgary, Irene (Uriel) Hines of Thunder Bay, Maria (Bill) Ironside of Thunder Bay, John Ostojic of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and Emanuel (Gabriela) Ostojic of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; grandchildren Stephanie, Michael, Amanda Miller; Nathan, Nicole and John Paul Ostojic; Jylissa, Jessiah, Keyanah and Azariah Hines; Barbara, Mary, William, Sarah and Caroline Ironside; Isaiah, Jonathan, Carter and Samuel Ostojic and his sisters Vera and Sinka.

Petar was predeceased by his parents Stjepan and Kristina; brother Slavo and infant sister.

Funeral services for the late Mr. Petar Ostojic will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 10:00 AM with family and friends gathering at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Croatian Catholic Church, 479 Oliver Road for Funeral Mass celebrated by Fr. Terry Sawchuk. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with the Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00 PM.

If friends so desire, donations to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Croatian Catholic Church in memory of Petar would be greatly appreciated.
