Reginald “Reg” Bonazzo, age 85 years passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023 after a long struggle with dementia. A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay and was familiar to many – whether he was on stage performing, or preparing endless meals at one of his restaurants, Reg was well known.

Reg truly enjoyed meeting people and having a visit. He had a remarkable ability to remember the details of the many lives he encountered – he would always follow up, hold the space and share some advice or encouragement. He truly wanted the very best for people.

Born on July 15, 1938 at Fort William, Ontario,  Reg is lovingly remembered by his children Brad and Angela. His partner in life and love, Marion Fernie, her family, Allison, Michelle, Samantha, and Kyrie , with who he had a special bond.

Reg made a great living as business owner – many remember the Crippled Crow Tavern – the pizza a first of its kind in Thunder Bay. Grannies Deli, and both Reggie’s Restaurants. A local performer, Reg took to the stage in a singing career that spanned more than 50 years – he loved being in front of an audience; best known as Willie Nelson in the Legends.

As Reg began to slow down, he did some travelling, worked a delivery job that he loved. On the weekends he would perform with Cyndy Howarth on the stages of Branch Five, the Elks and Pioneer Ridge.

Reg lived a good life. We miss him.
