<p>
Mr. Richard. “Dick” Heyder, age 92 years, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 10, 2014. </p>
<p>
Dick was born in Port Arthur on Feb. 24, 1922 to Alfred and Ethel Heyder and was a lifetime resident. <span style="font-size: 12px;">In 1942 he married Margaret Nash and together they raised 3 children. </span></p>
<p>
Dick served his country overseas from 1944-1946 with the Royal Canadian Army. He was employed as a Rural Mail Courier for 27 years before working with Abitibi-Price Provincial Mill for 12 years until his retirement. </p>
<p>
His and Margaret’s love of traveling and camping afforded them the opportunity to see Canada from coast to coast. Dick enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Lakehead Square Dancers. He was also a member of Branch #5 of the Royal Canadian Legion and an Honorary Member of the Jumbo Gardens Rec. Association. </p>

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Margaret, daughter Barbara Schmidt of Leamington, Ont., son Richard “Dick” Jr., grandchildren Lori (Darren) King and Darren Veltman, sister Lola Russel, brother Ronald (Nancy) Heyder as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. </p>
<p>
He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. </p>
<p>
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street with Rev. Lloyd Ivany presiding. </p>
<p>
The interment at Riverside Cemetery will follow a reception in the Sargent Family Reception Centre. </p>
<p>
Visitation for friends will be held on Thursday, March 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. </p>
