Mr. Richard Allen Macklin of Pickle Lake, ON passed away on Monday, October 3rd, 2022.

Richard was born on July 25, 1946, in Selkirk, Manitoba. He was a member of the Peguis First Nation and was raised in Matlock, Manitoba with his loving parents, Andrew and Annabella and siblings. Richard was raised to work hard and to always support his family; family was everything to him.

Richard began his career as an Electrician in Winnipeg and this is where he met and married his wife of 50 years, Elaine Anna Kraft. Together, they started their family in Winnipeg before moving to Pickle Lake, where he saw the promise of plenty of work in his trade. Later in his career, Richard took great pride and care in working at both the Missabay Community School and Crolancia Public Schools.

Richard and Elaine spent the majority of their lives in Pickle Lake raising their children. The last few years saw a lot of travel to be able to spend time with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife Elaine Anna; his children: Donavon (Donna), Lenaya (Steve), and Daniel (Rachelle); his grandchildren: Adrianna (Josh), Amanda (Brandon), Emilie, Julia, Bradley, Jordan, Tyler, Isabelle, and Grace, and his great-grandson Jack; his sisters: Betty Macklin, Edna Chilton, and Carol Bulloch; sisters-in-law: Alice Miller, Irene Speak, and Louise Stirrup; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard had made many lifelong friends in Pickle Lake, but he truly cherished his coffee buddies. We know how much his Pickle Lake friends meant to him and we are thankful for all the support our Dad had received.

Dad’s priority in life was his family and it truly showed. He made a point to be present for all his children and grandchildren’s achievements throughout the years. He lit up the room with his smile, jokes, or his famous cursing. He will be missed.

Family and friends may gather for a celebration of Richard’s life on Monday, October 10, 2022 beginning at 2:00 pm at the Community Hall in Pickle Lake. Interment will be held at a later date where he will be laid to rest in the Robinson Spur Cemetery, Matlock, MB.
