Mr. Risto Hirvasoja, age 82 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice on November 23, 2015.
Risto was born in Haapevesi, Finland. He came to Canada in 1954 and settled in Port Arthur. His wife Anja (Vahasarja) and daughter Riitta joined him thereafter. Risto was as a bush worker before entering carpentry and eventually becoming an independent home builder. His free time was spent pursuing his avid interest in hunting and fishing.
Risto is survived by his wife Anja, son Henri, brothers Teuvo, Matti, Tapio, Herman, Pertti and sister Hanna; and numerous other relatives.
Risto was predeceased by his parents Kristian and Hellen; daughter Riitta; brothers Erkki and Heikki; sisters Liisa and Elsa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Harbourview Funeral Centre, with Rev. Jari Lahtinen presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers donations in Risto’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
