Mrs. Rita Marie Raynak (nee Moriarty), age 95 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025 in Hogarth Riverview Manor with family by her side.
Rita was born on July 4, 1929 in Port Arthur to Rose Ellen (nee Reid) and Patrick Moriarty. She was a lifetime resident of the city and a member of St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church.
Rita is survived by her four children Catherine, Margaret, Peter and Monica (Darryl); her 6 grandchildren and 4 great granddaughters. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Peter “Peppy” Raynak; her parents; her sister Eva Young and brother Michael Moriarty as well as her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
The family would like to thank the staff of unit 3 South at Hogarth Riverview Manor for the loving care provided to Rita over the years she resided there. You helped Rita in more ways than one and we are so grateful!
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Rita's Life will be held in the Summer and interment will take place in Mountainview Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Peter. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
