Robert Andrew (“Bob”, “Bobby”) Bearman, 69, passed away surrounded by family, and friends that felt like family at Nipigon District Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

Bobby was born on July 24th, 1954. He was the eldest of 4 children born to Bob and Noreen Bearman. He grew up in Nipigon and his love of nature and sport was very apparent from a young age. He has been fishing, hunting, and trapping in this area all his life. Some might call him the ultimate outdoorsman, which lead to starting his own outfitting business, Nipigon River Bear Hunt; just one of his many successful business ventures. He was also owner and operator of the Pine Crest Motel until he sold the business more recently for a partial “retirement" that still included plenty of guided hunting trips. He has guided outfitters and sportsmen from all over the world and his impact on them all is apparent from the outpouring of love and support from that community in his final days. When he wasn’t running his motel, leading a hunt or spending time with his loving partner of 22 years, Lynn, he could often be found out on the boat catching dinner in the Nipigon River. A man of many interests and talents, he was also an unsuspecting artist with his wood carvings reflecting his shared respect for nature with the town lining Front Street in Nipigon. Of all his accomplishments though, he was most proud to be a father to his son, Alex.

He will be remembered for his rough-around-the-edges, yet kind soul, his sense of humour, his colourful story telling and knowledge sharing to all. He greatly valued all of the teachings passed onto him and was always willing to share his wealth of knowledge. He made an impact on anyone who shared a moment with him, but especially the younger generation he has inspired in the world of trapping and hunting, even gifting a homemade bow to his youngest grandchild from his blended family this past Christmas. He was a proud grandpa to Daya and Declan and they’ll each have special moments and keepsakes to remember him by.

Bobby was predeceased by his father and namesake, Robert “Bob” Bearman who we hope he is now reuniting with and catching up with over a glass of red wine. He is survived by and will be missed greatly by his partner, Lynn Dorosh-Randa; son, Alex (Isabella Park-Jean) Joubert-Bearman; step-children, Brad and Scott Randa, Cora (Leal) Strain, and step-grandchildren Daya and Declan Strain; mother, Noreen; siblings, Tom (Leslie), Lisa (Don Perry), and Casey; and nieces, Haillie (Mark Traintinger), and Erin (Kurtis Byrd). He was also survived by so many dear friends whether they were a part of his morning coffee crew, childhood friends, fellow outdoorsmen, or young mentees; notably, Brooke Russell who he has made a meaningful and lasting impact on for the better part of a decade after extending a helping hand following her own father’s passing.

Bobby will forever be missed and his loved ones are extremely proud for who he was and all that he accomplished in his life.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 3rd from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the Nipigon Royal Canadian Legion Hall for family and friends to attend. We invite you all to share pictures or memories. As Bobby wished, he will be cremated and ashes spread at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital.
