It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Ashman. He passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday July 28th, 2015 at the age of 64.
Bob, formerly of Dudley, England relocated to Thunder Bay in 1975 to work for Bell Canada in their fleet services department. After 32 years of service with Bell, he may have retired, but he never stopped practicing his craft as a mechanic, a handyman, Mr. Fix-it was he always up for a challenge or pet project.
Bob was a tailor, classic car and aviation enthusiast, he loved his formula 1 races and had many humanitarian interests. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a fanatical dog lover.
Bob is survived by his children Bobby (Sophie), Shawn (Kieu) and Terry (Kevin), his grandchildren Shawna, Evan, Michael and Brielle. “MGB” Bob will also be missed by his many former car club members, and his co-workers. He was predeceased by his wife of 36 years in 2006 Barbara Ann Ashman was truly the love of his life, his parents and his brother Stewart.
He made strangers feel like family, was never short on conversation was a very proud and classy gentlemen that cared about his family. His family and friends will miss his quick witted humour, his genuine sincerity, his endearing flirtatious nature and his big hearted generosity.
As per Bob’s wishes, cremation took place and a small private family service was held on August 5th in his home. If anyone so desires, donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society, which were all causes close to his heart.
