Chornoboy Ronald

Sadly, we announce that Ron Chornoboy passed away peacefully at the age of 69 with family by his side at the TBRHSC.

Ron was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. At 18 months of age, he and his family moved to Thunder Bay, what was then called Fort William. He attended Francis St. Public School and went on to Northwood High School. He was the only child of Chuck and Anne Chornoboy. Ron worked for 37 years at Great Lakes Paper Mill before retiring.

Although Ron bowled for many years, his true passion was golf. Ron golfed for 35 years at Emerald Greens Golf Course. So, Jack if you see balls falling from the sky, you’ll know who it is. Along with Art and his other golf buddies, they enjoyed many golf trips to the states together. During the summer, Ron’s family often wondered who was more important, family or golf.

One of his greatest joys were his two grandsons, playing darts with Connor and watching and laughing at Kall. Ron leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years Barbara. Sons Bob (Melissa), Dan (Christine), Grandsons Connor and Kall Chornoboy, Aunt Vicky (Regina), Uncle Mike and Aunt Marlene (Regina), Sister and Brother In-Laws Evelyn Ahola, Ross (Helen) Sim, Brian (Evelyn) Sim, Sandy Sim, Rosemary (Guy) Sim. Plus, many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Chuck and Anne Chornoboy.

We are holding a celebration of life on Thursday February 16th, 2017 at the Calvary Lutheran Church on Donald Street between 1pm – 3pm. There will be a short program that will start at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Northern Cancer Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
