Ronald Ian Monteith, aged 69, passed away peacefully with family at his side on April 14, 2023 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre.

Ron was born on May 7th, 1953 in Fort William to James and Constance Monteith and raised in Thunder Bay as one of six children who grew up on North Syndicate Avenue.
 
Ron attended Selkirk High School until he joined Canada Post and continued working as a “Postie” until his retirement in 2008. Ron always enjoyed playing team sports and being the center of attention. Ron was an avid curler to which he was proud to be called a national postal curling champion. Ron enjoyed watching baseball, especially his beloved Blue Jays. Ron also enjoyed music, dancing, billiards, his dogs, and spending time with friends and loved ones. Ron was always generous with his time and spirit and loved to help others through volunteer work. Whether it was coaching curling or baseball, assisting with the Hope Classic, providing lawn care or snow blowing for neighbours, or as part of the Fort William #257 Unit of the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada, Ron dedicated himself to making the lives of others better.
 
Ron is survived by his spouse Joan Poole, daughter Mandi Zeni (John), son Ian (Kayley), granddaughters Brooklyn, Peyton, and Rose, grandson Jude, brothers Dennis, Brian (Cathy) and Graeme (Tara), sister Cecilia (Jerry), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the mothers of his children Maryann and Judith. Ron is predeceased by his parents, sister Debbie, and sister-in-law Joyce.
 
Ron’s family wants to express extreme gratitude for the doctors and nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit, Renal Services and Oncology Ward 1A at the Regional Health Science Centre for their care and compassion during his final days.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
