Mrs. Rosaire A. Lidkea, age 98 years, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, at Hogarth Riverview Manor-Transitional Care Unit.
Rosaire was born on June 29, 1925, in Fort William. She graduated from nursing school in 1945 as an R.N. and worked at McKellar Hospital and Grandview Lodge. She met the love of her life, Jerry, in 1946 after corresponding with him overseas and they married on January 19, 1948.
She was a devoted Catholic and very involved in her Church with programs such as the CWL where she was a member for 71 years, the Bind Us Together Prayer Group, the RCIA, and the deaconate programs and more. On Feb. 1, 1987, through the deaconate program, Rosaire became the first woman to receive the “Minister of Service” title who was not married to a Deacon. She lived and shared her faith as much at home and in the world as she did in the Church. She prayed daily and especially for those in need.
Rosaire was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed her life surrounded by her family, seeing her great grandchildren being born, and time spent with members of her clubs.
She is predeceased by her husband Jerry, daughter Judy, sons-in-law Bert Lindstrom and Doug Johnston, and grandsons Nicholas Berardi and Jesse Lidkea.
She is survived by her daughters Beth Lindstrom, Allyson Lidkea (Peter), Roseanne Johnston, Mary Laffan, and Kathryn Berardi (Bob), her sons Peter and Gerard Lidkea, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
We all love and miss you, ‘Gram’.
