Mr. Rosario Gigliotti passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 8, 2024. 

Rosario was born in Paterno Calabro, Italy on May 2, 1930, the son of Francesco and Tommasina Gigliotti. 

He came to Canada in 1954 and reunited with the love of his life Amalia Gigliotti, the loving pair was inseparable for 70 years. 

Rosario worked as a mechanic both in Italy and then later with Port Arthur Motors in Thunder Bay until his retirement. 

He enjoyed hunting in his younger years with his brother-in-law Vincenzo Deluca. 

Rosario enjoyed many years of fishing with countless friends and playing cards at the Italian Hall where he was a loyal member for many years. 

He will be dearly missed by his brother Francesco Gigliotti, niece Giuliana (Frank) Ceci and family, nephews: Santo (Jane), Gino (Sandra), Frank (Darilyn) and Vincenzo Jr. Deluca as well as by many other family members in Thunder Bay, Italy and the United States.  

He was predeceased by his wife Amalia, parents Francesco and Tommasina Gigliotti, mother-in-law and father-in-law Giustina and Santo Deluca, sister Maria Romano and niece Lina Talarico. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Jim Scali for many years of care and compassion. 

The family would also like to thank the Thunder Bay Police and Thunder Bay EMS for their outstanding professionalism and sensitivity. 

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Rosario Gigliotti will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 when family and friends will gather in St. Anthony’s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 1:30 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini.

Visitation will be held in the church for 1 hour prior to the Funeral Mass. 

Entombment will take place at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum.
