It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of our cherished husband, father and papa, Royal Ernest Perrier on March 9, 2017. Roy passed away peacefully in his 79th year with his family by his side at the TBRHSC.
Roy was born on November 26, 1937 in Fort William ON to Blanche and Aurel Perrier and was the youngest of eight children. He had a very happy childhood and enjoyed many adventures with his siblings growing up in the heart of Westfort. Roy was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and a gifted hockey player in his younger days. Roy was an extremely hard worker throughout his lifetime, having spent 37 years as a clothing/papermaker with Great Lakes Forest Products.
He was an exceptionally talented man who loved to fix things and build furniture. He enjoyed a challenge and spent hundreds of hours making oak rocking horses to pass onto each of his daughters. Roy loved being with family and was such a proud and loving papa to his grandchildren. Roy was a very memorable man to all who met him as he exuded a natural love of life and nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the festivities that accompanied such outings. Roy spent much precious time with family and friends in the great outdoors especially enjoying the many years he spent at his Wild Goose camp. Roy had a genuine and easy going way that people, children and animals naturally gravitated to. He was a great story teller and loved for all those around him to have a good time. Roy was a gentle spirit with a big heart and a strong will. He truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives in his time with us.
Roy is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Pamela (nee Milne), four loving daughters, Bonnie (Randy) Tucker, Rhonda (Rob) Cameron, Monique (Ken) Prout and Marcie (Bob) Jesperson. Seven adoring grandchildren, Bridney (Erich), Shaylin (Brent), Braedon, Nolan, Ryden, Havyn and Jarek. Siblings, Julie Lafontaine, Henry Perrier and Bernie Perrier, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Roy also leaves behind his wonderful friend and sidekick Don Drebit whose friendship was a treasured part of his life. Roy is predeceased by infant grandson Lawson Tucker, parents Blanche and Aurel Perrier, in laws Pauline and Ernest Milne, sister in law Barbara Milne, sisters Bernice Simkanin, Armande Vescio, Rolande Boyer, brother Roland Perrier and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 12:10pm, at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. Jerin Louis. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will take place one hour prior to mass time. In lieu of flowers memorials to the TBRHSC Renal Services or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
