Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Rustan-Hovi, age 74 years, resident of Thunder Bay, On, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice with family by her side on October 16, 2024. Born on July 19, 1950 in Geraldton, On; she was raised in Manitouwadge, later moving to Thunder Bay to attend Lakehead Regional School of Nursing. She was employed as an RN, assuming several different roles, working as a case manager for CCAC primarily. After 34 years of service, she retired in 2006 to move to Medicine Hat where she and her husband lived for 7 years before returning home to Thunder Bay. Ruth enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, travelling and spending time on Lake Superior, but nothing made her happier than spending time with family.
Ruthie is lovingly remembered by her husband Matti, daughters Jennifer (Regan), Jolene (Greg) and step-daughter Kirsi (Sam), grandchildren Liam, Henrik, Leni, Abigail and Samuel, siblings Reg and Iris, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents Thelma and Norman, sister-in-law Joan, niece Robin and nephew Russ.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ruthie’s life for family and friends will be held at Hilldale Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jari Lahtinen presiding.
