It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece and friend, Samantha Lee Elizabeth Morriseau, age 35 years, unexpectedly on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Samantha was born in Thunder Bay on June 4, 1989. She was artistic in many ways and enjoyed beading. She was a huge animal lover, and also enjoyed gambling, especially Bingo and scratching lottery tickets. She loved her kids above all else, and time spent with them brought her the greatest joy.

Although she struggled with addiction for many years, Samantha was determined to beat it and battled hard to overcome those demons. Over the last 6 months, she attended Treatment and Counselling, and was progressing well, even being a leader within the classes. Although her life was cut short, we are so proud of her will to keep fighting and the desire she had to never give up.

Our beautiful angel will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in our hearts, and the memories we shared will forever be cherished.

Samantha is survived by her children, Peyton and Easton; her parents, Kelly Morriseau and Darcy Pedersen; brother James (Danielle) Pedersen; maternal grandma Judy Morriseau; aunt Sandra Morriseau and uncle Andrew (Kim) Morriseau as well as her nephews Kingston and Jaxson. She is also survived by her paternal grandma, Sandra (Alfonze) Hachey, paternal aunts Valerie Henry, Michelle (Mike) Keeling and uncle Steven (Tara) Pedersen. Numerous cousins and extended family also survive.

She was predeceased by her first-born son, Billy Cole Thompson; grandfathers Lawrence Morriseau and Bernhard Pedersen, and her uncle Brian Morriseau.

Funeral services for Samantha will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 with family and friends gathering in St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Fort William First Nation, for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, celebrated by Father Gerald McDougall. Interment will take place in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, where Samantha will be laid to rest with her beloved son, Billy.

If friends so desire, memorial donations made in memory of Samantha to Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be very much appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
