It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beautiful wife, soul mate and best friend, Shereen Cowie. Shereen passed peacefully at the TBRHSC at the age of 69.
Shereen was born to Steve and Victoria Synishin in Terrace Bay on Dec 20th, 1955. From Terrace Bay, she moved to Thunder Bay where she graduated from Westgate High School and completed a year at college. She began her career at Bell Canada and from there worked for City of Thunder Bay telephone installation group on Walsh St. She enjoyed working there with her friend Evelyn and all the guys. She retired in 1987 to take on her proudest role of being a stay at home mother to three children.
She married her partner in crime, Brett Cowie in 1980 and began their journey together. She enjoyed moving to Law Road where she embraced all aspects of country living including managing the fire and creating beautiful gardens.
Years ago, Shereen attended her first football game which ignited her passion for the game and soon became a San Diego Chargers fan - especially when they played the chiefs. Brett and Shereen would spend every Sunday together listening to music, watching football or the races and ending it with a delicious homemade meal - a ritual very special to them.
Shereen was known for her green thumb, delicious desserts, thoughtful gifts, but most of all for her contagious laugh. You had no choice but to laugh along. She was also part of the afternoon crew at the Dragons Den where she met many great friends and created long-lasting memories.
Shereen is survived by her loving husband Brett and three children Carrolyn, Christine and Michael (Courteney) and grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, nieces, nephews and friends that held a special place in her heart.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 19th, 2025 at the Dragons Den from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
A special thank you to the emergency department, Dr. Ramsy, Dr. Aly, Dr. Beata, Dr. Kelly and the nurses on 2C for your care and professionalism.
