Shirley Margaret McKenzie (nee Campbell) peacefully passed away on January 3rd, 2024 at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 22nd, 1937 in Kakabeka Falls, ON. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. Her memory will be forever cherished.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughter Donna (Jim) as well as her treasured grandchildren Tyler, Andrew and Barbara. She was also blessed with great grandchildren Colten and Madeline. Shirley leaves behind her sisters Evelyn, Betty, Karen and Colleen and her brother Ralph.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband Don, her dear son Don Jr. and her precious grandson Jimmy. She now joins her parents, Manson and Orpha and her sisters Mary, Della, Ilene, Linda and her brothers Malcolm, Bill and Alan in eternal rest.
She found joy in camping at Sandstone Lake and travelling to Arizona. She loved her sports. Shirley was also a devoted fan of the Thunder Bay Twins and spending Wednesday nights at Riverview Raceway. She found excitement in cheering for her favourite teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. In the kitchen, Shirley’s baking and cooking creations brought warmth and happiness to those around her. More recently she enjoyed challenging herself with jigsaw puzzles and word searches.
To honour Shirley’s memory, contributions can be made to the St. Joseph’s Foundation.
Shirley will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, strength and devotion will continue to inspire us all. May her soul find eternal peace.
An interment for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
