It is with heavy hearts the family of Silvana Caratti, nee Lodolo, age 85 years, announces her passing on April 26th, 2018 at Hogarth Riverview Manor with family by her side.
Silvana was born on November 24th, 1932 in Udine, Italy. 67 years ago, on April 28th, 1951, she married her childhood sweetheart, Ido Caratti. In 1957, Silvana immigrated to Fort William (Thunder Bay) with her 2 sons to join her husband where they continued to grow their family. Silvana’s full time job consisted of raising a family of 4 and caring for many boarders who became lifelong family friends. For a short time, Silvana worked at Stan’s Pizza making her famous meatballs. Silvana enjoyed cooking, knitting, fishing, playing bingo, going to the casino and gathering with friends to sing and dance at special events.
Silvana will be sadly missed and remembered by her husband Ido Caratti, children, Claudio (Judy), Loredana Bene, and Lucio (Nicole), grandchildren Jennifer (Kelly) Hill, Catherine, Matthew (Bobbie-Sue), Daniel, Kevin (Rebecca) and Kayla (Daniel) Roberts, great grandchildren Emma and Oliver Hill, and Mia Caratti, her brother Sergio Lodolo (Gabriella) of Italy and many other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents Felice and Elsa Lodolo, son Lucio Caratti, son-in-law Joe Bene and many close family friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Rev. Fr. Gordon Holroyd. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior, at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the service with interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery at a later date.
Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Silvana’s memory to St. Josephs Foundation- Hogarth Riverview Manor and/or the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay.
