It is with sad and heavy hearts that the family of Stella Mataja announce her passing on Friday, April 24, 2015.
Stella was born on June 21, 1928 in Port Arthur, Ontario. She was born to parents Alex and Irene Maydanski, sister to John, Michael and William. She was an honourable daughter, a loyal sibling, a faithful wife, a dedicated mother, and an outstanding grandmother.
Stella was an industrious homemaker and her kitchen was her domain. Stella's door was always open to neighbours and friends, she treated everyone like they were apart of her family.
Stella will be sadly missed by her children; Doug King (Lillianne), Gina Nuttall (Martin), Michael Mataja, and Denise Mataja; grandchildren Tim, Amanda, Jessica and Martina; great grandchildren Lilli and Kevin and god child Inez Dimini.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Fred, brothers and son Michael.
Funeral services for the late Stella Mataja will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 with family and friends assembling in Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Father Jerin Louis. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00 p.m.
