With deep love and heavy hearts, Susan Gaudry’s family announces her sudden passing. Susan was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose absence will be profoundly missed.
Family was the cornerstone of Susan’s life. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jack Gaudry, and their children: Dale Gaudry (Kelly), Christie Kelly (Larry), and Danielle Kozyra (Mark). Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she will be missed dearly by Tiana Gaudry (Benton), Ben, Carter, Josh, and Zack Kelly, and Aaron and Skylar Kozyra. Susan grew up in a nurturing family surrounded by siblings Rick Wright (Brenda), Dan Wright (Carol), Linda Johnson, Bev Delarue (Ralph), and Shawn Prochnau (Ashley), as well as a wealth of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Edith Robbins (“Grannie”), her father, Clifford Wright, and recently by her mother, June Gill.
Born on September 18, 1951, in Port Arthur, Ontario, to Clifford and June Wright, Susan was the oldest of six children. She spent her childhood on David Street, attending Balsam Street School and Hillcrest High School. At just 14, she met Jack, the love of her life, and they married at age 19, on October 9, 1970. Susan, a dedicated wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, poured her heart into her family.
She worked at McNulty's in the shoe department in her earlier years, creating fond memories. Once her children were born, Susan embraced the role of a Stay-At-Home Mom, nurturing Dale, Christie, and Danielle. She took pride in volunteering at school events and supporting her children in sports and Girl Guides. Later in life, as her children grew, Susan returned to retail and retired from Canadian Tire on Arthur Street, where she formed lasting friendships with the crew in Customer Service.
Susan’s love for her family knew no bounds; her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Always eager to babysit or snuggle with little ones, they will profoundly miss her warmth and support. She cherished simple pleasures like watching her grandchildren splash in the lake, learn to swim, jump off docks, reel in fish, and listen to their endless chatter. Whether at the hockey rink or curling club, she loved watching and cheering on her grandchildren and truly savoured every moment.
Camping and enjoying nature with family were among Susan’s greatest pleasures. When her children were young, the family explored Provincial Parks, but Blue Lake held a special place in her heart, where they spent countless summer weeks. Eventually, they settled into a permanent campsite at Kashabowie River Resort, where she watched her children and grandchildren grow up. Her two precious cats, “Kash” and “River,” brought her much joy. She especially loved campfires, where family and friends gathered for hot dogs, s’mores, and evenings full of laughter and happiness. Mosquitoes were a minor inconvenience.
Susan eagerly anticipated and treasured family gatherings, celebrations, and milestones, both big and small. She took pride in preserving these memories through mementos and photographs, creating a legacy for Jack, her children, and grandchildren. These cherished memories will live on forever. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, she will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
Susan’s life will be celebrated on Monday, December 30th, at Lakehead University in the Faculty Lounge beginning at 1 PM. Free parking is available in Lots G13 and G14, which can be easily accessed by entering the campus from the Balmoral St. entrance and following the event signage. Interment will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
