It is with deep sadness that Teeny Agostino passed away on May 13, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born June 25, 1924 in Port Arthur. Teeny attended Cornwall Public School and studied Ukrainian and folk dancing. At eight years of age, she studied the mandolin and drama on Saturdays. Teeny was a member of the Mixed Ukrainian Choir and Port Arthur Mandolin Orchestra from 1936-1940. After high school, Teeny worked at a confectionary store and attended sewing classes at night. Following this, she was trained in the manufacture and assembly of airplanes for the war effort and was hired by Canada Car.

She married Nick in June 1944 and worked in their corner store, Agostino’s at 50 Ontario St. A few years later they built a new store on Algonquin Ave. where she worked while Nick worked at the Ontario St. store. After selling the Algonquin St. store, she went back to Ontario St. and was in business for a total of 29 years. She was a member of the Moose Hall and had many enjoyable dinners with the ladies of that association. She also enjoined the spaghetti suppers at the Italian hall for many years. She enjoyed traveling and took trips across Europe and the United States.

She is survived by her children Joe (Donna), Garry (Mary Ann), Angelina (Carlo) and Ron (Paulina), grandchildren Susan, Carolyn, Corrine, John-Paul and Martina, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents Alexander and Sofrona, husband Nick, grandson David, sisters and brothers Annie, John, Bill, Mary, and Stella. We would like to thank Dr. Allison for looking after Teeny for many years and also the Doctors and Nurses at St. Joseph’s Care Group for the last few months.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 when family and friends will gather in Corpus Christi R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Victor DeGagne. Visitation for friends will be held on Wednesday from 5- 7p.m. with the Vigil Service at 7 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street. Those wishing to attend the service virtually may do so at the Sargent & Son Facebook page. Teeny will be laid to rest by Nick’s side at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Oliver Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
