It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Terrance (Terry) Robert McGuire at the age of 78 at St. Joseph's Hospice.
Terry is survived by his partner Joy, his children Shelly (Chris), Kerry, and Chantal, his grandchildren Cadel, Nolan, and Archie, his partner's children Charlie (Jane) and Ashley, his partner's grandchildren Olivia and Jayla, and his sister Linda (Tom).
Terry was married to Brenda (nee Kirkland) for 25 years and they raised their daughters together, Shelly and Kerry, before her passing in 2001. He was fortunate to meet Joy Pangrac in 2003 and they spent the next 19 years together.
Terry was born in Seeley's Bay, ON and moved to Thunder Bay in the mid-70s. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers (Local 128), taking pride in sharing his knowledge, skills, and love of the job with fellow Boilermakers, young and old. For the last 20 years, Terry has run the annual Boilermakers Local 128 Golf Tournament. He was always happy to combine his love of golf and his love of the Boilermakers.
Terry loved to spend his time on the golf course, playing cards or having coffee with friends, reading books, or taking a nap on his porch swing. Terry loved life and lived each day to the fullest. He was always up for a laugh, bringing his positive personality to everyone he met. And he met pretty much everyone. If you had the opportunity to talk to him, the conversation would often turn to his family. He loved his family and enjoyed sharing their successes with anyone who would listen.
Terry was predeceased by his wife Brenda, his parents Elmer and Ruby, his brothers Gregory and Donald.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Terry's name to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.
A small, private celebration of life will be held for Terry. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
