Mrs. Theresa “Terry” Marie Wilson, (nee Caron) age 89 years, passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on Monday, September 20, 2021.

Terry was born May 22, 1932 in Earlton, Ontario, where she was raised and educated. As a young woman, she moved to Haileybury, Ontario, where she worked as a switchboard operator for the local telephone company. It was there she met a young Jim Wilson, who was studying at the Haileybury School of Mines. They courted for a short time then were married in December 1954.

Terry was a caring and loving mother who was very busy with 5 growing children. Through the years, the family lived in several places across Canada, including the Yukon and Newfoundland before finally settling down on an acreage in Thunder Bay. Terry effortlessly made many friends in each place and kept in touch for many years. She enjoyed doing anything outside, walking, gardening or picking berries, she made the best raspberry pie. She loved animals, cared for many stray cats and insisted on having a bird feeder or two wherever she was.

Her “Joie de Vivre” was clearly reflected in her everyday life and radiated in all activities and conversations. She was a woman with boundless energy who spread sunshine to others wherever she went. Our family was so blessed to have her in our lives for all these years. She will be fondly remembered for her compassion and generosity especially to those less fortunate than herself. Her story doesn't end here as she has left a beautiful legacy of what kindness and compassion truly look like.

Terry is survived by her beloved husband Jim of 68 years and by her 5 children; Steven, Debbie, Susan, Paul and Marc; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family will share plans for a Celebration of Life at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society.
