It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Therese Marie Edna Daigle (nee Hebert) at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on February 19, 2022, at the age of 89. Therese, or Theresa as she was commonly known as, could have a lengthy conversation with almost everyone. She loved to talk, and made friends everywhere she went.

Born in Rexton, New Brunswick, Therese was raised with a large family on a farm in the neighbouring community of St. Charles. In 1956, she and her baby son moved to Jellicoe, to join her husband Albert for a new life in Northern Ontario. They moved to Geraldton in 1967, in order to ensure that their children receive an education in French language. In Geraldton, Albert and Therese built the Voyageur Grill and operated the restaurant for several years. She further worked for the Hudson Bay Company, primarily working ‘upstairs’ in the toy department. Devoted to her faith, she was heavily involved in the church (Paroisse Ste-Therese), where she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. In the late 1980’s, she followed her children to Thunder Bay, as family meant so much to her. In retirement, she enjoyed caring for children, helping at the Kateri Church, being a member of Order of the Royal Purple, and was passionate about her flower and vegetable gardens. It must be noted that a part of her always remained in her homeland of New Brunswick, where she loved to travel to and visit with family.

Therese was the dearest mother of Gilles (Lorraine), Norma and Michel. Grandchildren Michelle (Jonathon) Murray, of Smith Falls, and Danielle. Great grandchildren Grace, Adrianna, Isabelle and Isaiah, who she all loved so dearly. Also survived by step brother Adelin, along with step sisters Jeannette, Irene, and Anita, along with many nieces and nephews locally as well as in Montreal and New Brunswick.

Predeceased by husband Albert, as well as parents Thomas and Genevieve (Roy) Hebert, brothers David, Lawrence and sister Jane. Step parents Amedee and Victorine Hebert, siblings Aurele, Rene, Vincent, and Stella.

A small family service will be held on March 18, 2022 at the Kateri Church, and internment will be in Rexton, at a later date, to be near her mother that she never had the opportunity to know.

If you so desire, donations made in memory of Therese Daigle to the Kitchitwa Kateri Church, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.

A special thank you is extended to the staff of Sister Leila Greco, for your friendship and care during her final years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
