It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie, Cousin and Friend, Tuija Doiron. Tuija passed away peacefully at the age of 62, surrounded by her loving family, at the TBRHSC, Tuesday December 17, 2024.
Tuija was born June 24, 1962, in Port Arthur Ontario to proud parents Ritva and Tapio. She attended Cornwall and Algonquin Elementary schools, Hammarskjold High School and graduated from P.A.C.I.
Tuija worked at the Hoito Restaurant as a teenager, until the birth of her first child, she then chose to stay home to raise her 3 beautiful children Nicki, Danielle and Troy. In 2006 she returned to the workforce at the Real Canadian Superstore and later became the union shop steward, a position she held with pride and honour.
Tuija was an avid athlete in her youth, her passions included hockey and baseball. Tuija held a special place in her heart for the Montreal Canadians, especially Ken Dryden. Tuija cherished her time spent at the Arrow Lake family camp. These passions live on in her children and grandchildren.
Tuija is survived by her children: Nicki (Ricky), Danielle, and Troy. Grandchildren: Lyric, Brayden, Ella, Jordyn, Maci, Kai, Layla, Finn and Maxim. Sisters: Tarja, Arja and Petra. Aunt Maire (Bob) Nieces and Nephews: April (Shawn,) Sami (Tracey), Danny (Ashley), Kayla, Micheal, and Melissa (Justin). As well as numerous cousins and friends we just don’t have room to name, but she loved them just the same.
Tuija is predeceased by her mom (aiti) Ritva, dad Tapio, stepfather Leevi and numerous other relatives.
Tuija’s family and friends would like to extend their utmost gratitude to the most amazing nurses and doctors in the I.C.U at the TBRHSC whose care, compassion, patience and dignity were a shining light during a very difficult time.
Because Tuija was such a generous and selfless person, she chose to be an organ donor. This year she provided a Christmas miracle to two families through the donation of her two kidneys. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Kidney Foundation in memory of Tuija.
As per Tuija’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in Tuija’s honour, Sunday January 5, 2025, at the Oliver Road Rec Center, from 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM. A private family Interment will take place at a later date.
