Ursula Magi (nee Schwake)
January 23, 1925 - February 26, 2016

Ursula Frieda Magi, age 91 years, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital on February 26, 2016 with her family by her side.

Ursula was born in Seissen, Harz, Germany in 1925 to Paul and Auguste Schwake.

Oma had a very interesting life with many amazing stories about growing up in Germany.  After WW II, she lived in England before moving to Port Arthur, Ontario.

Ursula worked hard and took pride in raising her son, Paul. She was a very independent woman. Ursula created some intricate needle work and knitted garments over the years, many of which will be passed on to her great grandchildren some day.

She was an avid reader and a very intelligent woman. Ursula was very aware of world politics and could discuss any topic for hours.  She worked at the P.A. General Hospital until retiring with fond memories of her co-workers including her best friend, Lore. Their friendship carried on into retirement with lunches at Kangas.

Ursula will be remembered and dearly missed by her son Paul, daughter-in-law Nancy, granddaughter Daana Pascoe, grandson-in-law Craig Pascoe and grand-dog Dixie, as a loving mother, mother-in-law and Oma.  She requested that we say farewell to all of her friends and family. Ursula was predeceased by her parents, brother Heinz and sister-in-law Gertrud.

We would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the wonderful care they provided during Ursula’s illness.

A funeral service will be held for Ursula at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Care Group would be greatly appreciated.
