Vincenza Bossio

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother and Nonna, Vincenza Bruno Bossio (Naccarato), age 89 years. She passed peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, March 12, 2022 after a short battle with cancer in St. Joseph’s Hospice.

Vincenza was born and raised in Grimaldi, Italy. In 1947 she met the love of her life, Silvio Bruno Bossio and welcomed their only daughter Vera. In pursuit of a better life for his family, Silvio immigrated to Canada on his own and after a short time called for his wife and daughter to join him. They settled in Thunder Bay where their family was united in a loving home on Melvin Avenue, where they spent many years building their new life together. The two were happily married for 58 years before Silvio’s passing in 2008.

Vincenza was an exceptional wife, mother and Nonna who cared deeply for her family. She enjoyed preparing meals for her grandchildren whom she adored more than anything else in this world. She was always there for every important moment in their lives. She loved to cook, sew and entertain with her close friends and family. She made sure she was always around when her family needed her. We would all love listening to her stories while eating a traditional Italian meal in her home. Our Nonna was one remarkable woman. She was strong, independent and full of life.

Her passing leaves a great void in our lives. Vincenza will be truly missed by her immediate family, daughter Vera (Rosario) Larizza, grandchildren Nancy (Jonathon) Provenzano, Dino Larizza and Silvio (Alanna) Larizza, her best friend and sister in-law Filomena Niccoli, her sister Maria Naccarato-Grimaldi (Italy) and her many nieces and nephews whom she all cherished.

She has been reunited with her beloved husband Silvio, whom she missed everyday since his passing; and many relatives and close friends.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Vincenza Bruno Bossio will be held on Thursday March 17, 2022 with family and friends gathering in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church (123 Hilldale Road) for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini and Deacon Pasquale Coccimiglio. Entombment will take place in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time in the Church.

COVID-19 Protective measures are still being applied in group settings. Capacity is limited, masks or face coverings are required and maintaining social distancing of 6 feet is mandatory for those attending the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial donations towards St. Joseph’s Hospice.

Nonna always told us “ Siete la luce dei miei occhi”
( You are the light of my eyes)
Nonna “tu eri la nostra luce”
(You were our light)
