The Bortolussi family announces with great sadness, the passing of its matriarch on December 21 in TBRHSC with her family at her side. Virginia (Colautti) was born in Pescincanna, Fiume Veneto,Italy.
She married Pasquale Bortolussi in 1939 and in 1950 brought her four boys to what was then Fort William to join him as they began a new life together. Their family was complete with the arrival of a daughter. Virginia was full of energy and right up to the end she maintained her own household; mowing the lawn, gardening, sewing and amazing the neighbours with her shovelling and snow blowing. Her home was the family hub where everyone stopped by to have a coffee and catch up on the latest family news. She neither looked nor acted her age and she was proud of the fact that those she met were astounded that she was actually 97 years young.
Left to mourn are her sons, Arnold (Elizabeth), Norman (Ruth), Vincent (Gloria) daughter, Diane (John Hill), daughter in law, Jill; her grandchildren, Sean, Felicia(Ken), Joey(Kerri), Michael, Angie, Kevin(Jennifer), Tabby, Jason(Suzanne), Sarah(Dave), Alana(Mark), Dineen(Erin), Kristen(Jeff), Ryan(Stacey), John Albert(Theresa), Brittany Virginia (Devon), Johnathan Peter(Sara); her 24(soon to be 25) great grandchildren and also nieces, nephews and other relatives in Italy, Canada and Venezuela. Predeceased by her parents, Maria and Eugenio Colautti, husband, Pasquale (1995), son, Denis (2008), a brother and five sisters in Italy and four brothers in Canada.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St Agnes Church on Thursday December 28 2017 at 12:10 pm celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to mass time in the church. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
