Mrs. Virginia “Ginny” Jean Huovinen (nee Jackson), passed away at home on October 10, 2022.

Ginny was born in Port Arthur, ON to Jean and Ron Jackson on August 9, 1950. She attended Current River Public School, Lakeview High School and Lakehead University. She married the love of her life, Jarmo in 1972. She worked as a teacher in Nipigon for a number of years then as a teacher in Iran when Jarmo worked there on a foreign project. She later became a probation and parole officer, a position that she held until her retirement.

Ginny enjoyed many forms of crafts including making beaded jewelry, basket weaving and foil art painting to name a few. Ginny was blessed with two children Chris and Carrie-Ann, whom she loved dearly.

Ginny is survived by her son Chris (Ashley), grandchildren, Sophia and Lucas as well as granddaughter, Morgan to whom she took on the proud role as parent. She was very proud of her grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Janice (Terry) Redden and niece Erin Whiteway.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Jarmo; daughter, Carrie-Ann; sister, Judy Whiteway and nephew, Brian Whiteway.

As per her wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
