BOSTON — Thunder Bay's Ryan McDonald was the top local finisher on Monday at the Boston Marathon.
The long-distance runner completed the gruelling 26-mile course in a time of 3:15:46, landing him 6,951st in the men's overall division and 600th in the men's 50 to 54-year-old age category
McDonald averaged just over seven minutes per mile.
David Prince, racing in the 60 to 64-year-old category, crossed the finish line in 3:28:59, good for 12,765th overall, 9,055 in his category.
Kenya's John Korir took the men's overall title, finishing the race in 2:04:45, 19 seconds faster than Tanzania's Alphonce Felix Simbu. Korir also survived a hard fall at the beginning of the race.
Kenya's Sharon Lokedi set a new Boston Marathon record to capture the women's race, completing the course in 2:17:22.
