Epiroc looking towards the future

Epiroc want to support their customers in every phase of their mining operation.

As an organization, Epiroc’s focus is to accelerate the transformation occurring in the mining and construction industry.

With this in mind, they have prioritized boosting their portfolio in automation, digitalization and electrification and their acquisition strategy & industry partners allow them to support customers as they adapt to this new technology on site.

For example, they recently opened a Regional Electrification Center in Quebec with their colleagues from Meglab Powered by Epiroc.

The facility is focused on laying the groundwork for customers to make the switch to battery-electric operations by providing both the necessary infrastructure and innovative solutions and services that allow them to transition to zero emission mining seamlessly.

In automation, they recently achieved a significant milestone by successfully automating their Minetruck MT42, which operates in an eastern Canada gold mine with a two-kilometre spiral ramp.

The MT42 autonomously trams from the surface to underground, where it is loaded by a tele-remote Epiroc Scooptram ST18, and then it returns to the surface to dump its load.

Epiroc’s digitalization solutions allow mines to have improved connectivity, plan their mining activities more efficiently and improve safety via situational awareness.

It essentially allows them to take the lid off the mine and have a better understanding of how they can boost productivity.

The value these technologies add for customers can transform their operations entirely.

These are very important initiatives that Epiroc is involved with. As the mining and construction industry evolves, they have to be prepared to evolve along with it.

An important part of this strategy is to make sure that they offer great service support along with their solutions, so that customers can benefit from their expertise in the areas of automation, digitalization and electrification.

Epiroc’s recent acquisitions have shown their commitment to this goal.

They have acquired Meglab & FVT Research to help enhance their electrification solutions. FVT Research specializes in diesel-to-battery machine conversions.

They’ve also added 3D-P and MineRP, as well as Remote Control Technologies (RCT) and CR Mining to boost their portfolio in digitalization and automation.

Ultimately, Epiroc want to support their customers in every phase of their mining operation.

Epiroc is a global productivity partner for mining and construction customers and accelerates the transformation toward a sustainable society.
