From the joy of connecting with family to the simple pleasure of spreading kindness, Christmas holds a special meaning for everyone.
For Tbaytel, it’s a time to celebrate the season with the Tbaytel 12 Days of Christmas, which returned for another year in 2024 to deliver surprises, support organizations across northern Ontario, and make the holidays a little more merry and bright.
“As we approach the holidays, we’re reminded of the importance of giving back to the communities that have supported us throughout the year,” said Tbaytel’s Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Communication, Amy Meunier.
“The 12 Days of Christmas is our way of sharing a little extra joy and kindness, with the hope that these small moments of surprise will make someone’s season a little brighter and inspire others to pass it on.”
This year Tbaytel supported not-for-profits across our region with donations, surprise Christmas parties, gifts, free gas, meal deliveries and employee volunteers. Tbaytel and its Authorized Dealers also popped up in nearly a dozen places around our communities to surprise people with gift cards, and much needed donations.
For 2024, Tbaytel’s 12 Days of Christmas included the following surprises:
Day One - We kicked off our 2024 Tbaytel 12 Days of Christmas at the Neebing Memorial Arena, where we surprised families and skaters with free public skating and concessions.
Day Two – We went shopping and filled personalized Dilico Christmas Wish bags to bring joy to 50 children in need this holiday season!
Day Three – The Tbaytel Store in Marathon stopped by the local theatre to surprise families with a free movie and concessions!
Day Four – Tbaytel staff collected and purchased 1065 pounds of RFDA’s most needed food and personal hygiene products to help those in need this holiday season.
Day Five – We went to Fort William First Nation to surprise 105 people at K&A Variety and Gas Bar by filling up their tanks for free! K&A also took part in the surprise and contributed to filling up each tank.
Day Six – We loaded up a bus filled with children from Boys and Girls Club to surprise them with seeing the Kam River Fighting Walleye vs. Thunder Bay North Stars. A wonderful night fill with hockey and snacks!
Day Seven – We headed to Vanderwees Garden and Gallery and surprised 50 shoppers with $100 gift cards to make their Christmas a little more merry!
Day Eight – Tbaytel staff joined the Children’s Centre Thunder Bay Christmas Party and donated to the food for the party and gift cards to Walmart.
Day Nine – Our Tbaytel Authorized Dealers across the region gave back to their communities in a number of ways including:
- Everything Mobile in Terrace Bay purchased gift cards from Costa’s Foodmarket, Drifters, Home Hardware, Breeze’s Bakery, Schreiber Pharmacy, Boushi Sushi and Filanes + donated giftcards from Everything Mobile in giftbags to surprise local residents.
- Enercom in Atikokan surprised Northern Lakes K-12 School and St. Patrick’s School, with hot lunches.
- Red Lake Marine purchased much needed food from Balmertown Food Fair to donate to Red Lake Food Bank.
- Oshtugon Computers in Dryden and Sioux Lookout purchased backpacks with mitts, hats, toothbrushes, shampoo, first aid kits and some food to donate to Dryden Native Friendship Centre and Sioux Lookout’s “Out of the Cold” Shelter
- Square Three Wireless purchased $1000 in gift cards from M&M Food Market to donate to the Wawa Christmas Hamper Fund.
- Sight & Sound in Fort Frances purchased gift cards from Beaver Mills in Rainy River and Cloverleaf Family Foods in Emo to surprise shoppers.
- Donny B in Kenora - Donny Bs teamed up with the Salvation Army to help with the gift baskets for the youth in our community that will be distributed for Christmas
Day Ten – We stopped at St. James Public School for bingo games and prizes, gingerbread cookie decorating and a pizza party!
Day Eleven – We joined the volunteers with Meals on Wheels to assist in delivering meals with an added holiday gift from Tbaytel!
Day Twelve – We stopped by Acadia Broadcasting to go live on air during their 36 Hours of Cheer to let them know we’re making a $10,000 donation to the Christmas Cheer Fund!
