On the evening of Nov. 28, the Thunder Bay Community Foundation hosted its annual grant reception at the Chanterelle, bringing together over 100 attendees to celebrate the generosity that continues to strengthen our community. This special event provided an opportunity to acknowledge the donors, organizations, and individuals whose contributions make a lasting impact in the District of Thunder Bay.
One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement that in 2024, the Thunder Bay Community Foundation has given out over $550,000 towards local organizations, and various community-based projects, helping to elevate opportunities and enrich lives across the District. The Foundation received a record amount of 75 grant applications in the Fall and was able to fund 38 applications to 36 organizations. In combination with their student awards, the Foundation has invested over $700,000 into deserving students and organizations in 2024. This milestone emphasizes the success of one of the Foundation’s goals to improve the quality of life and well-being of the citizens in our community.
“We are so glad to have built a fund at the Thunder Bay Community Foundation to help address our diverse philanthropic interests," said Shelley Crawford, fund holder at the Thunder Bay Community Foundation.
"It was easy. The staff were professional and supportive, so now they administer a number of donations to our chosen charities - the excellent arts organizations in our city, charities that address our community’s most urgent needs and those that focus on conservation and preservation of nature. We hope others will consider investing their funds in the TBCF and that many will donate to charities that they truly care about."
As the year draws to a close, the Thunder Bay Community Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to all the donors, supporters, and organizations that make this positive change possible. The contributions are a testament to the strength and compassion of the Thunder Bay community, and together, we are building a brighter future.
“We are incredibly grateful for the passion and support shown by our donors and organizations,” said Mike Belliveau, Chair of the Thunder Bay Community Foundation.
“Together, we are making a difference in the lives of so many individuals and groups in Thunder Bay, and we look forward to continuing this journey of giving.”
