Boat show continues on after more than three decades

The boat show will be up and running until 8 p.m. on Thursday, will continue from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

THUNDER BAY — The 37th annual boat show began on Thursday at the Coliseum building on the CLE grounds.

Norm’s Boating Centre, North Country Cycle and Sports, Halfway Power Sports and Wally’s Thunder Country Diving were all in attendance. This year for the first time at the boat show, there was a display on above water sports.

“We have 48 units on display between boats, pontoon boats, seadoos, wake boards, quads and we also have some snowmobiles,” said Norm Willis, owner of Norm’s Boating Centre.

Willis has been to all 37 boat shows, and said one was missed due to COVID, but other than that, people look forward to it each year.

“Now this is the best time to buy, because everybody has some really good discounts. There are some non-current inventories and also, we're probably looking at a big increase coming up with the new tariffs that are maybe coming up so now is the best time to buy,” Willis said.

Willis said he encourages people to check out the boat show, which will go on all weekend.

“Also, if they want something that we don't have, the manufacturers have time to build it so that they have it for spring.”

The boat show will be up and running until 8 p.m. on Thursday, will continue from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
