THUNDER BAY – The number of patients admitted to hospital in the Thunder Bay District dropped by 15 in figures reported Monday by the district health unit.
The most recent count shows 36 people in hospital in the region with COVID-19, down from the 51 reported on Friday. Four people are in intensive care, one more than reported on Friday.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced 103 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, but caution the true number is likely much higher as PCR testing is limited to the area’s most vulnerable and does not count positive rapid antigen tests.
There are currently 243 known active cases in the Thunder Bay District, 27 fewer than the 270 reported on Friday.
Since the pandemic began there have been 12,077 confirmed cases, 7,813 of them reported in 2022. There were no new deaths.
