THUNDER BAY – The District of Thunder Bay has recorded its 99th COVID-related death since the pandemic began.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit, which has switched to weekly reporting of COVID-19 numbers, announced the latest death on Thursday, the 29th death reported in 2022.
There were 17 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the district as of Thursday, with three of those in ICU.
The health unit also announced 123 new cases, but have cautioned that because of a lack of molecular testing available to the general public, those numbers likely under-represent the spread of the virus in the district.
There are currently 86 known active cases in the health unit’s catchment area.
There have been 9,042 confirmed cases reported in 2022.
