THUNDER BAY – The Canada Border Services Agency has closed its Thunder Bay office because a contracted, non-agency worker has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a release, the CBSA says it is following procedures outlined by the Public Health Agency of Canada, adding that all staff at the location have been notified and are at home self-isolating and monitoring for symptoms.

Other businesses and partners who operate out of the 201 North May St. facility have also been notified.

While the office is shut down, measures are under way to thoroughly clean and sanitize the CBSA office as well.

To continue to serve the local business and commercial sector, the CBSA has undertaken efforts to provide the services usually conducted at the office through the Pigeon River port of entry.
