THUNDER BAY -- Defending champion Brett Shewchuk is still in the hunt at the Strathcona Invitational.

The Thunder Bay golfer edged Mike Vail in Sunday’s championship flight quarterfinal to move on to Monday’s semifinal.

He’ll take on reigning Keg District Open champion Evan DeGrazia, seeking his first Strathcona Invitational title.

DeGrazia, who missed the cut at the Staal Foundation Open earlier this month, knocked off former Strathcona winner Joe Scharf in quarterfinal play.

Mark Willianen, the 1983 Strathcona Invitational champion will take on Jeremy Kirk in the other semifinal.

Willianen downed Robert Cumming, while Kirk stopped Scott Wilke in the fourth and final quarterfinal of the day.

In the Master’s category, Doug Kukko will take on Tuevo Aapro in Sunday’s final. Randy Fossum tackles Peter Danielsson in the senior final.
