North Stars fall to Dryden in shootout

Berg was the only player of six to score in the shootout, snapping the North Stars modest two-game win streak.

Kris Kellaway had a pair of goals for Thunder Bay, while Cole Golka staked the host Ice Dogs to a 2-0 first-period advantage.

Bradley Belisle scored the Stars other goal. Chris Sitko restored Dryden’s one-goal lead with four seconds to go in the second. Dryden improved to 5-1-2 while the Stars slipped to 3-3-1. 

In other SIJHL play, the visiting Fort Frances Lakers scored four goals in a 6:01 third-period span to lead his side to an 8-4 trouncing.

Jake Holland scored twice and added an assist for first-place Fort Frances (7-0-1). English River (0-7-1) continues to look for its first win of 2014-15.
