MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Along with the regular Black Friday shopping articles, the Canadian Border Services Agents saw a serious amount of hockey hardware crossing into Canada this past weekend.

Lakehead Minor Hockey Association teams had a bonanza in Minneapolis this past US Thanks Giving weekend at two separate tournaments.

The 30th annual Chaska Brick City and MVI SuperRink Spectacular tournaments were both showcases for Thunder Bay’s minor hockey teams, as they swept their divisions.

The MVI SuperRink tourney held at the 8 rink Swann Super Centre ended with Thunder Bay’s Peewee AA team, Elks 82’s, as winners.

In the Atom AA division, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places went to KC Sabers, Elks 82’s and the North End Flames teams.

Meanwhile, at the Chaska Brick City tournament, Peewee A division, Westfort Power Rangers skated to 1st place followed by Westfort Maroons bringing home bronze trophies. Atom AA team Neebing Hawks won their Championship game.

In the Atom A division it was a dominant sweep by three local teams, denying any of the other 14 USA home teams of podium placing.

Volunteer Pool BearCats won their final over the Neebing Hawks for 2nd.

Westfort Maroon’s drove the last of the US hardware north of the border with their 3 – 2 win over Westonka for 3rd place.
