I'm not sure if he would be appreciated in practising medicine again. Just look at his reviews from some of his patients; especially before he became a MP. These reviews are unbias with respect to timing of his political appointment. Also, they are not very good.

It's amazing! Before NWMO announced that they have selected the town of Ignace as their host community for dumping radioactive waste at Revell Lake, council and other supporting members of the public complained about the dire straits of poor economics in their community and that times are tuff. Now, council wants to challenged this case, that has no likelihood of success, in Supreme Court of Canada. This usually takes a great deal of money for an appeal. One of two things are happening here: 1) either Ignace came into a great deal of money where they can afford to sponsor a team of lawyers, which in all likelihood will have costs greater than the amount owing to Ms. Dufault, or 2) they are trying to bully Ms. Dufault by causing great economic strain on her with respect to legal fees that may be too high for her to shoulder. Good luck to you Ms. Dufault for standing up for your rights against a corporate bully. I'm sure that the SCC will see through council's arrogance.

It's always nice to see a person/people stand up for their rights, no matter what rights have been infringed upon. Good for you Ms. Dufault. Perhaps similar mannered municipalities can "learn more" from this court ruling and quit wasting taxpayer's money on meritless litigation costs.

So sad! If law enforcement is unsuccessful, then there is always civil action. But, before taking that approach, I suggust that the Town of Kenora address their concern with administration to prepare a Respectful Behaviour Policy; if there is no such policy in existance. This policy will take in members of council, administration, hourly employees, board, committee, and sub-committee members, and most importantly it will also address members of the public about acceptable and non-acceptable behaviour towards other people. It has to start somewhere, and this is as good as a place to start at, if any.

So sad! If law enforcement seems not to work out, then there is always civil remedies. If the accused is found guilty, damages can be very expensive. Also, if the Town of Kenora does not have a Respectful Behaviour Policy adopted, then I suggest council to address administration to have one prepared. At least now, all parties will have some sort of guidelines to follow and consequences towards the aggressor.

Wearsplaid, if you are going to attack me with a comment, please provide specifics so that I can provide a reply to your comment. I'll try and answer the second part of your query first. I'm not against everything. Many of my letters contained helpful information. After one letter was posted, I noticed positive changes with T. Bay's council and administration. I believe that all of the right people took notice of my letter. As for the first part of your comment, I still believe that municipal integrity commissioners are a costly menance to any municipality. The province should handle all code of conduct complaints and MCIA investigations. Municipal taxes are paying for ICs' services. In my opinion, I believe that there is a conflict of interest there. I have always been a free-thinker and not a team player. I believe that all members of council should be free-thinkers. There's no place for team players if you want democracy - socialism maybe.

Soul R, reasons for my sanctions were due to issues that many residents had about our administration, council and the integrity commissioner. It also had to do with some lower level staff members and business owners. I conducted an investigation without permission from council. Some council members were the accused. This didn't go over very well with the accused parties, so I was railroaded by those with statutory powers. The individuals who I tried to help with their concerns were at least thankful for my efforts. All parties who railroaded me have not only shamed themselves, but they shamed Manitouwadge as well. At least I tried to do what a member of council should do for their constituents - and that is to be a voice for the people; not for the ones with power. That is were my morals lie, and they haven't changed. At least I have the guts to stand up for the weaker party. If you were a member of council, would you support a person who had issues with your administration? I doubt it

I have read what people have had to say about the use and transportation of nuclear waste - both pros and cons. The most interesting one was by Big Al the People's Pal. His comment about other hazardous waste products on our highways posing great threats to our livelihood and no protests being made. It should be noted that 'short term' and 'long term' contamination remain as a variable, a well as, the degree of potentcy of the material being transported. Are we actually comparing apples to apples here? Then there was the comment of alternatives by Big Al and Jok. There are environmentaly safe alternatives. They are: 'wind', 'solar' and 'hydro' power. Creating hydro dams does have an environmental and social impact, but in-line water generating production has no environmental impact. There are solutions and nuclear power is not a solution. Final comment: the wisdom of our previous leaders outweigh the wisdow of our current leaders when it comes to economic down-turns.

Leave Facebook out of the business of the township. Facebook is for cowardly acts of individuals who do not have the courage nor respect to give the other person who they wish to swear their good name into the ground. The business of council, in short, is to promote the business, governance and reputation of the community. Section 224 of the Municipal Act outlines the "role of council". Those who are members of council took oath of office during their inauguration to do just that. If members cannot get their act together as a council, then any member(s) of the community can contact the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing or their elected MPP, file a complaint, state their concerns and ask for help. Council works for their constituents, Administration works on the direction of council. It is a circle of responsibilities by everyone - not a silo approach.

My beef with our levels of government rests at the municipal level especially in our town. I live in a single tier community that consists of 5 members on council. Over past terms of council, almost all condidates spoke about how they are: "the 'Voice' of, for or by the people." However, their voices becomes mute when they get elected. Our council meetings ususlly consists of a 2-3 page agenda of items for discussion; and usully council will accept administration reports without any in-depth discussions. Our meetings will last about 30 min. or less. There is very little discussion about these agenda items. The only time meetings will last longer is when they go into 'closed session', and those meetings are usually about legal, property or personnel matters. My point here is; discussions - resolved or unresolved, at least they are still being discussed. I envy Thunder Bay councils (past and present), because if there is one thing that is perceptibly superior - it is their discussions.
