SALT LAKE CITY - Robert Bortuzzo is headed to the National Hockey League's newest market.

The Thunder Bay blue-liner signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Utah Hockey Club over the Labour Day weekend.

Utah, which has yet to announce its team name, moved from Arizona at the end of last season after the Coyotes were unable to secure an arena deal in the Phoenix area.

The 35-year-old defenceman suited up in four contests with the St. Louis Blues last year before being dealt to the New York Islanders in December for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL draft.

Bortuzzo appeared in 23 regular season games for the Islanders and had an assist during the team's five-game opening round loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

This season will be Bortuzzo's 16th in professional hockey.

He made his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2011 and has recorded 74 points in 560 career games.
