From the love of connecting with family to the joy of surprising someone with a little bit of kindness, Christmas means many things to many people. For Tbaytel it means celebrating the season with the Tbaytel 12 Days of Christmas, which was back for another year in 2023 to hand out presents, surprise organizations throughout northern Ontario and make everyone’s holidays a little more merry and bright.
“This time of year is always special for all of us at Tbaytel as we give back as big as we can to say thank you to all of the communities who support us,” said Tbaytel’s director of marketing and communication Amy Meunier.
“We know that these random acts of kindness can have a ripple effect and we hope that it helped put a smile on someone’s face this holiday season.”
This year Tbaytel supported not-for-profits across our region with donations, surprise Christmas parties, gifts, meal preparation and employee volunteers. Tbaytel and its Authorized Dealers also popped up in nearly a dozen places around our communities to surprise people with gift cards, brand new phones and even free gas.
For 2023, Tbaytel’s 12 Days of Christmas included the following surprises:
Day One – We kicked off our 2023 Tbaytel 12 Days of Christmas at the Dew Drop Inn where we purchased and served lunch plus gave everyone who visited a gift bag. We were also joined by our friends from Saint Patrick High School’s Clover Cafe, who brought baked goods and helped us serve. Their Clover Cafe was one of our $10,000 Tbaytel For Good Community fund winners this year.
Day Two – We went shopping and filled 50 Dilico Christmas Wish bags to bring joy to children in need this holiday season.
Day Three – We headed to Intercity Shopping Centre and surprised shoppers with $100 gift cards to make their Christmas a little more merry.
Day Four – We threw a surprise Christmas party for the students and staff at St. Ann Elementary School complete with games, prizes, pizza and gingerbread cookie decorating.
Day Five – Rowan Tree Collective needed a new TV for their lounge so we brought them a brand new 75-inch screen PLUS lunch for them to enjoy.
Day Six – Customers at the Tbaytel Store got a huge surprise when we gifted them a brand new phone.
Day Seven – The Tbaytel Store staff in Marathon stopped by their post office to surprise people with gift cards for local businesses.
Day Eight – We stopped by Acadia Broadcasting to go live on air during their 36 Hours of Cheer to let them know we’re making a $10,000 donation to Christmas Cheer.
Day Nine – With the help of the Kam River Fighting Walleye, we picked up kids from Evergreen a United Neighbourhood to surprise them with a night of skating, snacks and a hockey game!
Day Ten – There were some hugs and even tears as we stopped by Renco Foods to give shoppers $100 gift cards to the store.
Day Eleven – We went to Fort William First Nation to surprise people at Bannon’s Gas Bar by filling up their tanks for free.
Day Twelve – Our Tbaytel Authorized Dealers across the region gave back to their communities in a number of ways including:
- Everything Mobile in Terrace Bay made a donation to the North Shore Harvest Cupboard and gave away gift cards to Costa’s Foodmarket and Esso.
