Powwow regalia items stolen from vehicle

Several regalia pieces were stolen from a vehicle last weekend.

THUNDER BAY — City police are investigating the theft of several items from a vehicle. 

Police said the items were stolen from a vehicle on Saturday, Aug. 24, along McKellar Street South. 

Of the several items taken, the powwow regalia is the one that is being sought after most by its owner. 

The items reported to have been stolen include a small black suitcase that contained several pieces of regalia: 

  • Beaded red, green and black flower necklace 
  • Two beaded heart hair ties with ribbons 
  • White ribbon skirt with black and brown ribbons 
  • Black shawl with green ribbons and strawberry design 
  • Dress with black lace 
  • White beaded headpiece 
  • Black wraparound moccasins 

Police said they hope these traditional items will be returned to their rightful owner.
