Fort Frances avoided elimination, doubling up Thunder Bay on home ice on Saturday night to even their best-of-seven SIJHL quarterfinal at three games apiece.

Thunder Bay scored three unanswered goals to erase a 5-4 Lakers lead and take a 3-2 series lead into Game 6 on Saturday night.

Kam River advances to Round 2 of the SIJHL playoffs, while Fort Frances and Red Lake have made their series into best-of-threes from here on in.

Kam River scored a 6-0 win in Game 3 of their best-of-seven series to take a 3-0 series lead. Thunder Bay, who rallied late to force overtime, edged Fort Frances 5-4 and Red Lake took a 2-1 series lead with a win over Sioux Lookout.
