There's no nonsense with the Just Novemburger from Aunt Sarah's 588 Café Nolalu.
The house-made burger is juicy and perfectly cooked. You could put just about anything on this patty and it would be great.
It's topped with both bacon and ham, crispy onions (that keep their crunch), lettuce and tomato. The house-made condiments are great: a nice honey mustard and a punchy garlic aioli that really brings some flavour to the table. All that on a locally-baked brioche bun that really holds up.
My only complaint is that the pickles, which add needed zing and crunch, are served on the side. That's not much of a complaint, but do put them back on the burger where they belong.
There's nothing fussy or complicated about this Novemburger offering, it's just really well made.
If you're in the area, I would definitely stop and try it. And if you're not in the area, it may even be worth the trek.
Without a side, the burger comes to $16 before tax and tip. For every Novemburger sold this month $2 goes to the local United Way.
Aunt Sarah's 588 Café Nolalu is located at 2165 Highway 588, in Nolalu, in the same building as Hoppers Variety.
